Breathe Life Insurance

plan today, for your families' tomorrow

We insure people – the most valuable and irreplaceable of assets. Insurance can be defined many ways, but we see it essentially as “hedging against loss”.

So what does that actually mean?
For most of us, we have responsibilities, work or family, there is usually someone depending on us. Having an accident or getting sick is something most of us don’t usually plan for or expect – how many times have you thought “it won’t happen to me?” While it’s not a subject most want to put much thought into we all know that somewhere along the journey, life will deliver us all a challenge.

The Tooth Fairy.

Who can remember their first failed business?
When we were kids we lived on a remote sheep station. Out the back of the farm we had rough country where there roamed wild pigs, deer and horses.

In the winter Dad used to shoot wild horses to feed the dogs (keep in mind this was 50 years ago!). Next to the dog kennels was a plantation of pine trees and this is where all the old bones and horse heads got thrown when the dogs were finished with them.

When I lost my first baby tooth my mother put it in a glass of water beside my bed ready for the Tooth Fairy – how very exciting. During the night the tooth fairy came to visit and take my valuable tooth away for some lucky new baby to have. The going rate in those days was a shilling. Yes, that’s right – a whole Shilling. I had my first business idea.

Well for 3 days after that first tooth fairy payout, my mother would see me for meals, and I'd be off out the door, far too busy to stop. You see, I was making a fortune. I figured that if a little kids tooth was worth a shilling, it was only logical that a horse tooth must be worth at least half a crown. I learned one very important thing that week. I learned that the tooth fairy doesn’t pay for horse teeth – apparently it's in the fine print. I also learn't in the years that came, that insurance companies can be like the tooth fairy and lots of people out there have horse teeth in their glass.

My message to you - be sure you ask the right questions & get the right advice before you rely on that payout.
